Stress refers to the physical as well as mental exertion of the body beyond the body's capacity to undertake the exertion. The effects or symptoms of stress can be short term or long term. Also the effects of stress can be negative or positive. The most common short term effect of stress is tiredness while the most common long term effects of stress are irregular heart rhythm, depression, long term sleeplessness etc. the effects of stress can be positive because it increases the competency in you for meeting deadlines and performing your work. The negative effects include effects that can take a toll on your physical as well as mental health. Stress can happen to anyone at any age. Stress normally happens to people who are constantly on the move without taking intervals of rest in between. Also, doing different types of activities at the same time leads to physical as well as mental stress. Today everyone wants to make a great career but due to the demands of meeting tight deadlines, majority of the people at the peak of their career experience stress. The effects of stress can be divided into physical, emotional and relational effects. The physical symptoms will affect the health of the body while the emotional symptoms will affect the mind. The relational effects will affect the relationships between the people. In the case of physical effects of stress, the most common effect is the person feels tired the whole day. Also the affected person suffers from severe headaches, restlessness as well as pain in different parts of the body like shoulders, legs, arms and necks. The affected person may also suffer from indigestion problems like goiter and constipation. Increased stress can also lead to effects like high blood pressure and irregular beating of the heart. The heart is one of the most affected body parts in case of excessive stress. In case of emotional problems the person will experience depression and sleeplessness at night. He will become short tempered and also will get irritated easily. The other most common emotional effect is frequent lapse of memory. In case of relational problems a person suffering from stress will keep himself aloof from people and avoid going to social gatherings. He will constantly fight with his family members and his colleagues at office due to which he may have to switch jobs frequently.
