About a decade ago stress was more prevalent in middle aged people due to factors like heavy workload as well as meeting tight deadlines. Also people feel stressed out when the stress handling capacity of the body is crossed. At present teens are becoming very career oriented and are becoming more active physically and mentally than before. As a result even teens today are prone to the symptoms of stress. Let's discuss in greater details the factors that contribute to stress in teens. Teens are prone to different kinds of stress situations. For example teems may be stressed due to their active lifestyle as well as problems at home. For example, a teen's parents might be constantly fighting or a parent might be a victim of substance abuse or alcohol abuse. More and more teens are doing part time jobs with their college as they want to earn their won pocket money and become self dependent. As a result the teens have no time for leisure and recreation. Also many teens have to stay in hostels instead of their own homes as many colleges are far away from their house. So daily commuting between their house and college is not possible as a result of which the teens may face a lot of stress. This is because they miss their home and their family. Many times the situation at home often leads to stress. There may problems between the parents and both the parents are seen fighting often. Also the parents maybe addicted to drugs or alcohol and hence waste all their hard earned money on these addictive habits. As a result the teenager may have to look after the additional responsibility of shelling out the monthly expenses of the house. As a result they have to work long hours after college to make ends meet. The hectic lifestyle of a teenager can often lead to stress. The teenager might be sleeping late at night and then waking up early to rush to college. As a result the body does not get enough rest and soon gives way to stress. In order to fight stress, the parents should make the teenagers understand that they need to lead a positive and stress free life as the symptoms of stress can have serious consequences in the future.
