Defenition of Stress
Stress does not have a particular definition. Stress has several definitions used interchangeably by doctors and people like. One definition of stress states that stress refers to the amount of wear and tear that the body and the mind goes through after performing specific tasks. Another definition of stress refers to the body's maximum capability of handling a task. Still another definition of stress is the body's fight response in comparison to doing everyday tasks. Some scientists say that stress is said to arise when the body's capability to adequately cope with the different demands and situations in everyday life is crossed.
Stress can be positive or negative stress. Stress within limits can prove to be good for you as it makes you more immune to stressful situations in the future as well as makes you more alert, active and smarter. Negative stress can prove to be detrimental to your body as symptoms physical symptoms like tiredness and pain in various body parts as well as mental symptoms like memory lapses and irritability can set in. Stress can also be defined as the automatic changes that the body has to make to adjust to the demands of everyday work and tasks. The capability to handle stress varies from person to person. Some people feel stressed even after working for few hours a day while someone people do not feel tired even after working for 14 hours a day on an average. However it is often observed that the capability to handle stress increases when the body gets adjusted to routine work. You may feel stressed out when you have just joined a full time job but after a month you body gets adjusted to daily work.
Hence we observe that different people have different definitions of stress. It is necessary to handle stress positively and keep the symptoms of stress under control. You should never allow the symptoms of stress to overpower your body or your mind. A positive attitude of life and your work will go a long way to prevent and relive stress. Plan your day and work as far as possible and stick by the time table. Do not invite stress unnecessarily. Make your life simple as far as possible to avoid stress.
